We had a tech come out from where we bought the printer and he said the printer and the chord are fine, so i am wondering what i need to do with the computers to get business back up. Using Win 7 home edition. When close wo a wifi hot spot I can connect to the internet. I use a 3G modem when at home to access the internet. I have tries several imes to install the HP P1100w printer and the blue wireless light on the printer keeps flashing. I am able to install the HP 1100p via the USB connection and print.

I have a six years old system manufactured by Tiny, AMD 3400+, 250 gig HDD and 1 gig RAM and is loaded with genuine XP Professional.I purchased both XP Professional and XP Home Edition Genuine discs which have been installed and validated umpteen times over the past six years.Recently the mouse has stopped working on both P/S2 and USB.The keyboard only works in USB and only when the system boots.This means that I cannot get into BIOS or any other set-up programme.Even when I load a disc, switch off (by unplugging as the mouse is inoperabile) and restart the disc is ignored until the system boots up. I can keep tapping keys until the cows come home but nothing happens until it has finished booting. I can only load discs after booting as the system is set to boot from the hard drive. Is there a solution to this as I can no longer afford to go to a computer repairer.I only use this as a secondary system as I intended selling it on. Any advice would be appreciated, not too technical as going into the internals of the system is beyond my limited knowledge.The only times I have opened the tower is to clean it with a pressure can to remove dust.

Recently my XP system has started booting but cannot access the system as the mouse and keyboard will not work. I have purchased a USB powered keyboard and mouse but still nothing happens. The same problem arises with the P/S2 keyboard and mouse. I am a novice to computing and this is very frustrating. The system is about six years old and has all the updates installed. I have a 250gig HDD and 1 gig of ram. I own genuine MICROSOFT XP Professional and Home Edition discs which have been installed times without number with no problems.The computer was manufactured by Tiny who unfortunately no longer exist. The disc player is also not recognised by the system. When a disc is loaded the disc player starts up but nothing shows on screen. I have checked that all the connections are secure inside the tower and as far as I know all is well there.
I would appreciate any advice as to what the problem is.Much as I would like to purchase a new computer that is beyond my means. Thank you for reading this.

OK So I have a laptop about year or so old It running Vista. I haven't tried before to set up a printer with but now need too, I brought a cheap HP but couldn't get it to print so I took it back and upgraded to a Canon Pixma MP560 connected via usb and can't get this one to print either. I've called Canon and all they can suggest is I uninstall the printer, disable my anti virus software(Norton) and reinstall. Before I do this is there anything else that I can try. The computer says it recognises the printer but it just wont print a document either from word or excel.

OK - this is bugging me like mad !!! I am trying to setup my brand new Epson PX810fw printer to work wirelessly, and also with 2 other lap tops, - I have been thro the setup disc that came with it and carried out instructions very carefully - it gets right to the end where it says 'remove usb cable' then print test page, but it will not print, - the printer seems to be connecting to my router ok because it displays the small aerial type thing with an excellent signal in the right hand top of printer screen, thank you.

I just got a new computer. How do I transfer my Outlook e-mails, addresses, etc. to the new computer? I'd like to use my mobile phone as an extra internet connection in case I need it.
I have an HTC Touch Dual and as far as I know it should be possible to connect it to my pc (windows xp) with a USB cable and use the phone as internet connection for the pc.

I have recently brought a new wi-fi xp netbook, and wireless printer and would like to know the easiest way to connect them wirelessly as I also need to add a KTS Machine (used to diagnose problems in cars) wirelessly to the netbook and printer. It has to be wireless as I am a mechanic who needs the netbook or KTS (the KTS has a usb bluetooth adapter but never tried it) in the car but can leave the printer in the office but still print etc without the need to connect everything by cables. Any advice on what I need to buy would be a great help.

IBM 240 Hard Drive Boot Problem

I have an IBM 240, with no floppy drive or CD drive. It has a hard drive that does not have an operating system installed on it. I am trying to deploy an image of another Windows 98 machine to the laptop in order to give the hard drive something to boot off of. The only problem is that since there is no operating system installed, the machine does not recongize the fact that I am trying to deploy an image at bootup from my USB drive. I need to find a way to boot off this drive,without inserting it into another laptop. Help is greatly appreciated.

When the windows hardware installer pops up I click continue and then it tells me that it cant find the necessary software and at that point I look at my computer dumbfounded. Anyone have a clue?

USB Problems

Hi people,

I have a problem with USB ports of my PC. They behave in a very bad manner! The problem is intermittend and follows no specific pattern. The thing is that from time to time they lose the connected device. For example I have my PocketPC plugged in for 2 weeks and suddenly it says "USB Devive Not Recognized". So I change the port and one of them works most of the times. Until the next time. It doesn't matter what device it is. In saying this, the USB printer never seems to make any problems! The problem occurs on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista Beta2. So the OS doesn't seem to be a factor. Sometimes the USB ports in the back of the computer do work, sometimes the ones in the back on the bottom. The most problems are caused by the two front sockets. They don't seem to work most of the time.

So if I for example want to download my digi camera pictures or want to use my card reader, I have to go on a search for a USB port which accepts it! Very annoying.

The USB ports are USB 2.0 enabled (doesn't make a difference if I disable this) and are set to full speed in the BIOS. I already tried to change the settings with no difference. The PC is a Intel P4 3 Ghz

The system information shows 5 Intel 82801EB USB Universal Host Controllers and the 8 USB Root Hubs.

I will give the first person who gives me information which make the USB hubs work 150 points!!! Please feel free to ask any questions.
