I have heard and read a lot about angularJS, but i'd like to know what is required in order to change from using JQuery to using AngularJS?

I mean in terms of how to conceptualize the development, how to go about it?

Any considerations or restrictions I should have in mind?

Hi,

I have a site up and running here

http://www.mikeleworthy.com/index.html

and I have a random bg script running on each page using JavaScript. Sometimes though instead of an image the word 'undefined' comes up... How can I eliminate this? If you need to see the JavaScript for randomising then I can post it. The rest of the script is in my source code.

Hope someone can help,
Mike.

We have a backend process that takes up to 10 seconds to run and when it's complete we change the content in a div to display new info.

The idea is to open a modal window until the new content loads in the div so people know something is happening and don't click on other things. The modal just has an animated processing gif on it.

I've got the modal coming up and the div changing however I can't figure out how to remove the modal without interaction from user. Thought about simulating a click on a button but could not get that to work.
How do I trigger an event which was set up with dojo.connect?

The situation is that I have an html form with a file input field.

I want the form to be submitted asynchronously with dojo, so I connect the dojo ajax call to the onsubmit event of the form element:

dojo.connect(form_elem, 'onsubmit', function(event){dojo.xhrPost({form: form_elem});});

This (though example shown here is incomplete) works when you click the submit button - the file is submitted in the background.

Next thing is, I want to automatically submit the form when the user has selected a file, so I connect the onchange event of the file input element to the onsubmit event of the form:

dojo.connect(input_elem, 'onchange', function(event){input_elem.parentNode.onsubmit()});
(the parentNode is naturally the form element)

This doesn't work! The form element does not have an onsubmit function, even though it has the onsubmit event handler connected by dojo before.

Question is how do I trigger / fire the onsubmit event of the form?

Thanks for your help,
Jakob

NB: I am using the Dojo Toolkit v1.2
function checkRadioControl(theForm,strFieldName,strMsg){
var objFormField = theForm.elements[strFieldName]
intControlLength = objFormField.length
bolSelected = false;
for (i=0;i<intControlLength;i++){
if(objFormField[i].checked){
bolSelected = true;
break;
}
}
if(! bolSelected){
strAlertMsg += "- "+ strMsg +" is Required.\n";
return false;
}
return true;
}

I have looked into the older post http://quomon.com/ViewQuestion.aspx?questionId=4229&

I tried to apply the same script and it worked partially,

The problem is I want to enable/diable only few fields in my form. The problem I am having is that when I select No, all the fields are getting disabled. I tried tweaking this code a bit, but i coudlnt succeed. Is there any way i can do this?

Thanks

function Form1_Validator(theForm)

var alertsay = ""; // define for long lines
// alertsay is not necessary for your code,
// but I need to break my lines in multiple lines
// so the code won't extend off the edge of the page

// check if no drop down has been selected
if (theForm.Dept.selectedIndex < 0)
{
alert("Please select one of the \"Department\" options.");
theForm.Dept.focus();
return (false);
}

if (theForm.NH.value.length < 3)
{

I have to re-do a webpage that uses frames. With those frames, you cannot print the entire content because you need to scroll. So, what I want to do is vary the height of the frame depending on the content inside (so all the data is visible)

Can this be done?

Please explain it as simply as possible (Ive only been working with HTML for a few months)
…..
……
Education Details:
…..

Thanks in advance.

Here is the code:
//disable text fields
var f = document.inputForm;
f.CurrentAddress.disabled = true;
f.PermanentAddress.disabled = true;
f.WorkAddress.disabled = true;
}

function enableDisable(oFrm, enabledFldName, disabledFldNames){
oFrm.elements[enabledFldName].disabled = false;
if (disabledFldNames instanceof Array){ //multiple field names
var len = disabledFldNames.length;
for (var i=0; i<len; i++){
oFrm.elements[disabledFldNames[i]].disabled = true;
}
}
else{ //single field name
oFrm.elements[disabledFldNames].disabled = true;
}
}
I need to enable certain text fields such as contact address, permanent address and employment address based on the selection of the corresponding radio buttons. If i work with first radio button, it is activating the first address type(contact address) and deactivating the other address types ( permanent and employment address) correctly. But for the second and third buttons too, it gives the same output.
It is not activating the corresponding address fields.

Please provide me with the javascript to execute the above condition.

how to center a div on the screen?

I need to center a div on the screen (through javascript), but I'm having trouble doing so.
This is my code:
var objLeft = (document.body.clientWidth - pleaseWaitBox.offsetWidth) / 2;
var objTop = (document.body.clientHeight - pleaseWaitBox.offsetHeight) / 2;
objLeft = objLeft + document.body.scrollLeft;
objTop = objTop + document.body.scrollTop;

// Position object
pleaseWaitBox.style.position = "absolute";
pleaseWaitBox.style.top = objTop + "px";
pleaseWaitBox.style.left = objLeft + "px";

Do you know what I'm doing wrong or if there is another better way of doing it?

Thanks,

I run a small online business and often adding some new info and images but it seems like my visitors can't see what's new without re-freshing every page on my site. Some people don't realize that they have to refresh in order to see what has been updated. Is there a code I can copy and paste into my html page to fix this problem?

Looping with strings in Javascript|Greasemonkey

I am creating a Greasemonkey script that further extends an already existing Greasemonkey script that is called dAx (dAmn.extend). dAx works on deviantART's chat client, dAmn. dAx has many subcommands that work with dAmn, but the one I am focusing on is the Away function. If you type /setaway [message], it posts *Username is away: [Message] and then you can remove that away by /setback'ing which returns *Username has returned from away. When a user highlights (mentions another user's username) the message gains a white background and if /setaway is active, it returns  Username2: I am currently away, reason: [Message]. When a user has been in an active chat long enough, older messages start to disappear. My part of this script is to make it store the messages to the user while the user was away and repeat it in a private window on /setback. I've managed to have it do a simple storage by just setting the chatroom it was posted in, timestamp, username, and message in a variable:     timeForm = hour + ':' + minutes + ':' + seconds + (userAM?" "+(ohour>12?"pm":"am"):"");
    twForm = "#"+current.split(':')[1]+", "+timeForm;
    messForm = twForm+' ::'+from+':: '+body+"
";
(Outputs: #Chatroom, 13:17:21 ::Username2:: Username: Are you there?)

But if there were multiple highlighting, it would just return the first message highlighted. I want to know how I can make a loop for each highlighting that occurs.

Here is the script: http://hypnocloud.mywebcommunity.org/... Just click the button View Script Source when the window pops up.

Search for "while ago" to get to the function where someone highlights you. Under that a couple functions is the /setback function.
