How do I fix my wireless networking so it runs on startup, under Linux?

I've installed Linux on my laptop. I'm using NDISWRAPPER to load the wi-fi drivers. I've put 'modprobe ndiswrapper' into /etc/init.d/networking and I've also tried to edit the interfaces file. However, now the laptop hangs on Configuring Network Devices when it boots up. What's the best configuration so the drivers are loaded on boot, and I don't need to manually renew dhcp and find my home's wireless network?

Hi,
I'm not much of a linux expert, but a friend of mine said that it's bad. If it hangs hard, then there's probably a hardware/kernel/driver bug. If it recovers after 30 seconds, then it's just dhcp timing out.
He said for a desktop machine, he would investigate NetworkManager http://www.gnome.org/projects/NetworkMan...

Hope this helps.
