selecting scripting language for a website
We have started a charitable society named "Samikhya Charitable Society". We want to have a website for this. Please suggest which scripting language suits better for this kind of websites ( php or asp etc).
Given the limited amount of information you've presented, it's possible to say that any language would satisfy your goals.
If I were consulting with you, I would gather a more complete feature list and then make a recommendation. What is the goal of the site that you're desiring? If it will be collecting contributions, consideration will need to be made as to whether of not you will use Paypal or another clearinghouse for the transactions.
How about a community forum? Certainly, there are several PHP-based forums that would serve that feature admirably.
Again, there are hundreds of factors that go into the selection, including the "preferred" development environment of the company you select to develop the site.
Castagna.net works primarily with Microsoft's ASP.NET/C# for our development work, but can also handle development with PHP and we support a couple of "frameworks" like Joomla! and DotNetNuke.
If you would like to consider engaging Castagna.net to develop this site, please don't hesitate to follow up with me.
Very truly yours,
Ric Castagna, Owner
