If you want to stop AOL IM from launching upon start of Windows do the following:
- Log into your AIM account
- Click Edit > Settings
- Go to the Sign/In and Sign/Out Tab
- Uncheck the check box labeled "Start IM when Windows Starts"
- Press the "Save" button on the bottom.
And then....no more AIM on launch.
