Not sure what exact info you want and what u mean by mapping tools.
I know of oneline sites that give u info
eg
http://searchenginez.com/zipcodefinde...
enter postcode eg 90650 and it returns the city, state, county name, FIPS code, area code, time zone, MSA/PMSA, latitude and longitude
eg results for 90650
Norwalk CA 90650 Los Angeles 06037 562 PST Yes 33.9069 118.0820 4480
this site http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/gazetteer
gives some info back plus a link to a map
Im sure using software like Google Earth or Microsoft Virtual Earth would also help you out here

oh, I totally forgot about mapquest http://www.mapquest.com/
This brings back a map also which u can zoom in/out of.
Now I remember something about them offering a sdk of some sorts but I think u got to spend money for that.

Do you know if any of these actually have the zip codes displayed on the map?

ok, I see what u mean now. You want maps with zipcodes on them.
Google Earth has a postal code boundaries layer. Im not sure of thats what will show zip codes.
Its under US Goverment (bottom left window is Layers, its in there)
