How do i reformat my laptop if i don't have any recovery CD?

I bought an Acer Aspire 5580 few months back and i would like to reformat my laptop but there was no Recovery CD given to me when i buy it.
I would not want to restore as the previous files are still in the laptop if i do it this way. Therefore i am trying to reformat it thoroughly :)

Where did you buy it from? You may be able to get hold of a recovery CD from them.

Check your drive as it stands now, there may be a directory (possibly hidden so ensure u set explorer to view hidden files).
