No, you can not go beyond the max. The only way would be to install a new motherboard.

Here I have a good recommend for you: Tuneup360 and Norton system work, but the latter one is a little bit difficult. For the beginners, Tuneup360 is a good choice.

my computer get the same problem, but i have to change to another CPU as the previous is so limited.

It was a "blast from the past" to find a message in my inbox saying there was a new post to this thread after all these years :)
Purchased that computer in 1998 or 1999 at which time it was amongst "best of breed". Retired it from graphics work in the early 2000s but still used it as a desktop for mondane tasks till 2008 when I initially posted this thread... It was finally "retired" that year (2008). So that's it :)
