Can you give more details on what programs are you using?
Have you uninstalled any recent applications, otherwise had some virus or spyware problems? Did some action that might have damaged your system?
For starters, you can try to install some registry cleaners like:
www.ccleaner.com/download (freeware that I personally use)
(execute the registry clean up - do not worry because it does not destroy any important keys - save the log)
