In XP How do I reformat my hard drive if I don't have my windows cd or a bootable disk
HI everyone, I need to reformat my hard drive (completely wipe out my c:drive) but I don' t have my windows cd or any other bootable disk. Can someone please tell me how to do it. I am using XP home thanks in advance.

Yes, buy a CD - I don't see how it is possible without any of them - if you have your installation in another partition than the c drive you might be able to run it from there but I'm not sure how.

anyway if you reformat your hard disk completely, but don´t have any boot disks, then how are you going to install any operating system afterwards?

It may be important to note that if your computer was built by a manufacturer such as Dell, HP, Compaq, eMachines or a company of the sort then you will likely have gotten a "recovery CD" with your computer. This CD will return your PC to the state in which it was in when it was new. You simply insert it, boot from the CD drive and it will run.
If not, then it you do in fact need an XP CD. Even if you were to whipe your drive then you would still need to install the operating system at a later date. You cannot avoid having any media from which to boot and install Windows.

I don't have any recovery CD, so i need to get the XP CD.
