Look for the section titled "Older versions of Rescue and Recovery" as it states
Some Thinkpads (e.g., T23 and T30) do not come with a Recovery CD, but also do not support the Hidden Protected Area. These ThinkPads have an older version of Rescue and Recovery preloaded on the hard disk to implement the factory recovery function. Most of the comments above also apply to the older versions, with the following differences:

2. Drive over to a friend's home and connect USB enclosure to their machine.
3. Run [Start][All Programs][Accessories][Windows Explorer]
a. identify your friend's machine's HD.
b. identify your HD.
4. Run [Control Panel][Performance Maintenance][Administrative Tools]
[Computer Management][Disk Management]
a. Find your HD (not Disk 0)
b. <right-click> Delete Logical Partition (if any)
c. <right-click> Delete Physical Partition
