Thunderbird files

I downloaded Thunderbird and it loaded all my mail from my webmail including 33,000 deleted mails, now it just freezes all the time, I cant access anything to delete the trash in Thunderbird, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still picks up the same files. Any suggestions what to do?

Whatever the latest one is, I downloaded like 3 days ago, 3.1.1 does that sound right?
