perhaps its the printer and it cannot use the security setting on your router. what have u got setup. is it wep, wpa? check the limitations of your printer in the manual

the setup for the router is something like this. open a browser and type 192.168.1.1
you should see the userid/password prompt. default password is admin (no userid). if this is set at default, you need to change it.
Then, I think under the wireless security settings you can select wep.
Do remember, wep is easy to crack given the right tools and hardware, wpa is not.

wireless printers have their advantages. maybe exchange for a wireless printer that supports wpa. I have a brother wireless printer and works good.
