Windows Defender is a great anti-virus/malware/spyware program, but it is always a good idea to get an addition antivirus software, just to be safe. Some good free ones are Ad-Aware, AVG Antivirus and Spybot. Avast! is also great but you have to pay to get the full version. You will be able to get by with just Windows Defender, but if you have highly sensitive material on your computer I would suggest that you get another one to help it out.

WHAT ABOUT MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS?

Microsoft Security Essentials is a very effective program. This is a good secondary anti-virus, behind Windows Defender. :)

Micorsoft Security Essential Pro 2013 is fresh rogue antivirus that tries to cash in on free Microsoft Security Essentials. However, it is obvious on the first sign that this one is fake. First of all, MES Pro 2013 will not install normally, but as fake updates or shareware distributed through shady channels. Generally, once you download malicious program and launch the trojan bundled with it, your PC will be infected. This is not the way legitimate programs are distributed. All legitimated Microsoft Updates and programs are either downloaded from its website or distributed through windows update.you should Try out this or the PC Defender Plus which will be helpful for your system.

I agree with you Microsoft Security Essentials is good. Personally I suggest you for Optimo AV. This is a very good virus protector.
