what is the best,possibly free,antivirus download for an HP dv6000 notebook?

I think I have a virus that is destroying my Windows vista program. I don't really like Norton, which came with the computer, but is now out of date.Suggestions for the best free trial download so i can try it before paying. Can i fix my windows program without sending it back to HP? It has has about 4 mind dumps this week.

You can try Optimo AV because I'm using this antivirus software from last 6 months and I have never faced any problems with it and I'm quite happy with it.
