Laptop overheating.

I have an HP Pavilion dv4 and due to my laptop being too hot and my fan ronning always at a constant low speed I have downloaded a program that should control it but with it I have found out that the fan doesn't whant to comunicate with the computer but beceuse the program can show me the computers internal temperature, I have now a manual small fan next to it so I can use the computer.
I have two operating systems on this laptop (windows 7, and Ubuntu), they aren't runing together but each one on it's own, but both can't control the fan.
I would like to know what can be the problem and how can I fix it, but untill then I will keep running Ubuntu because it doesn't need so much power.

you might need a external fan that connected via usb plug.. or else you might change the fan..

I think the internal fan/heat vent blocked with somedust like particles. please check fan voltage and air ventout. if the voltage is correct (usually 5v,6v,9v,12v ,depending on th power of CPU& graphics). if both are normal,please replace your fan

Be sure that there isnta any dust in the fan, also it be wise to replace the thermal compond on the CPU

Please avoid using laptop while charging. This can lead to heating problems in laptop.
