If you want a 13yo boy to learn web development, what would you recommend starting out with?

My son wants to learn web development, but I want him to start the best way possible, so he's not overwhelmed from the beginning. Any ideas for development platforms, sofware etc. that would be most appropriate?

Hi theDude,
Since your son is just 13, he wouldn't be able to comprehand advanced CSS and Javascript. I think he should start from basic HTML elements/tags. Make small HTML code snippet and try to change and see the effect simultaniouly in some Web editors like
