If you have synced your iPhone to iTunes on a computer before and have not synced it after you deleted the text messages, you can get them back. But iTunes can't help. If you have a backup on icloud, you can bring it back. But if you donnot, you may have to use a 3rd party recovery, Wondershare Dr.fone will helps you to do this.

Follow these steps to Recover text message for iPhone:
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer
Step 2: Enter the DFU mode and scan iPhone 4s
1) Hold your iPad and click "Start" button.
2) Pressing "Power" and "Home" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
3) After 10 seconds, release "Power" button, but keep holding "Home" for another 10 seconds.

Don't worry too much, there are three way to recover deleted text messages from iPhone 4S
If you have backed up your iPhone with iTunes, you can directly restore with iTunes.
Here is the guide from Apple offical website:
Click the "File" menu and select "Devices" > "Restore from Back up".
Or
Open the iOS device's Summary tab. There are two ways to recover iPhone deleted text messages:
Click the device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper right corner. The device button will then be visible.)
From any view in iTunes, click the "View" menu and select "Show Sidebar". Select your iOS device in iTunes under "Devices".

To retrieve a deleted SMS is to restore the phone to a time when the SMS was backed up, if it was. You have the choice to either recover deleted text messages to that backup, which will result in everything you have done since that backup to be lost, or if the SMS is in the backup, you could download an iPhone SMS Recovery software. you can recover deleted SMS from iphone 4s by two ways.

A lot more iPhone users are asking for help to recover deleted text messages from iPhone 4S, which they deleted accidentally or intentionaly. General speaking, it's impossible to recover deleted SMS from iPhone. But if you've ever synced your iPhone with iTunes, there does be a way.

1 - Go to Apple Genius bar and see if they can help
2 - Restore from the backup:- This will get you all the messages you want, but will wipe out everything that came into your phone since the backup date
3 - Get a backup recovery software:- I have used iPhone Data recovery software and would definitely recommend it. There are other options though, like the one Daiya has suggested, but they are just too expensive. It does the exact same thing for much less.

I collected two methods to recover deleted text messages from iPhone:
Method 1: Restore from your iTunes backup
Restore from your iTunes backup. If you used iTunes to backup your phone, see iTunes backup and restore overview, or restore from a backup you made with iTunes on your mac or PC.
Method 2: recover with iPhone data recovery software

If your iPhone data are indeed gone, I would suggest you try using iTunes in order to restore your iPhone data (including sms)from the last time you last sycned your iPhone with your iTunes. Here is about how to recover deleted text messages from iPhone.
Here are two easy methods to recover data from old iPhone :
One. Recover data from iPhone via iTunes.
1. Connect your iPhone with iTunes on computer
2. Right-click or control-click on the iPhone icon under iDevice on iTunes
3. Select "Restore from Backup" from the given options
4. After it finishes, your data are back to your iPhone
Important Note: This works only if you have made a backup for your data on iTunes.
Two. Recover iPhone Data without Backup by using third party iPhone SMS Recovery Software
If you have no backup for your data, you can download iPhone data recovery software in order to overcome the problem and restore iPhone data loss. Still you have not recovered lost data from iPhone, some on-line applications also available which can be helpful in restoring precious data details, probably will be able to find the solution to some extent.
