I've been using the community version of dotfuscator that ships in Visual Studio 2005 Professional...it's "free" and I guess that's the main reason why I've been using it. The community version is not really a heavyweight in the obfuscation world, but I haven't had any problems with my stuff being decompiled against my wishes.
I did find a really good "how-to" paper at the following link: http://www.howtoselectguides.com/dotn...
It includes an overview of obfuscation and the types of obfuscation, as well as details on several packages available for the task. Honestly, there's enough information in the report to make me rethink my decision to use just the community edition and step up to a full-blown obfuscator.
I hope this helps!
