Got to "Printers and fax" on your computer, on the printer and select the "sharing" tab. Share the printer.
Go to to your daughters computer, "printers and fax" choose "add a printer" and follow the wizard.

AlexL11, it looks like wirelessly. it sounds like the printer isnt shared so isnt visible on the network. Hopefully the answer from jimr would of resolved the issue.
Truman, on your daughter's laptop, I would expect she would have to install the drivers for that printer on her laptop (if not already there)

I am trying to install a wireless printer (HP 5850) on our laptop. The printer is showing Shared, Share Name is HP5850. I have tried to specify the printer by IP address (found and verified through DOS on our main PC). I tried disabling the firewall on the laptop but that didn't help. I can see two I still can't get to the printer and am pretty defeated right now. I have tried both installing from the disk and from the Control Panel. Under the Control Panel, I can see 2 networks, MSHOME and WORKGROUP. When I put in HP5850 as the printer name (per our desktop PC) I get a nasty note saying "Windows cannot connect to the printer". HELP.

I really can’t understand why so many people complain about PC start-up slow problems, you only need a computer cleaner to handle all the problems, such as tuneup360.
