I am trying to arrest my cursor arrow from bouncing all over and even off my screen. Any solutions
I am running Windows XP with SP2 and using FireFox browser. The problem seems to have started after I recently had a new Hard Drive fitted (but I am not sure if this has anything to do with the cursor).

Are you saying when you move your mouse the cursor just jumps around randomly?
Do you have an optical mouse? What background is it on? optical mice dont like colours!

Hi, the mouse is a wired HP model that came with the computer package a couple of years ago. Yes the mouse does jump randomly around the screen takes alittle effort to control and get it to where I need it. I suppose you could say the backgrounds vary because it happens irrespective of the web pages I am on.

Have you tried a different mouse to see if the same thing happens?

Try using your Mouse on a new surface, i find that a A4 refill pad cardboard part from the back works quite well for a mouse pad. If you are using the mouse on a shiny surface it could cause it to bounce around.
Maybe use a smooth piece of fabric.

Ok Thanks for your answers. It looks like it was the mouse. I am now using USB mouse and no trouble - yet.

Oh good. Alternative solution found.
When you said it was wired, was it still a optical mouse or the one with a ball. As I said before, optical mice dont like colours and causes your cursor to jump randomly. If one with a ball, try taking the ball out and cleaning it, also clean the bottom of the mouse and dirt builds up.
The mouse may have drivers, depending on what type it is. It might also be worth ensuring you have the right mouse drivers installed. I dont believe its a drivers issue though, its just a thought though.
