open the control panel and select users.
select the user your father will log in as (not the administrator)
you should see an option that says delete password.
to restart your computer in safe mode:
after powering on your computer and before any windows logo ever shows, continually press the F8 key on the top of your keyboard.
if the administrator account requires a password, then post if you have windows XP pro or XP home installed, then I'll show you how to reset the admin password.

There are a few ways you can do this, depending on what password you're talking about. If you're dealing with the XP accounts (users) then doing what oracle suggests above should get you on track - provided, of course, that you remember the Administrator password.
If you've got a "Windows Domain" password prompt, and/or you don't remember the Administrator password to the box, you're going to have to do a few more things to get into this box.
If it's the Windows Domain issue, you will need to log in to the box as the local admin and remove the machine from the domain. There will also be a setting in your Network control panel for Windows networking where you will de-select the Windows logon.
If it's not a Windows Domain issue and you can not remember the Administrator password, you will need "reset" the password. You can do this fairly easily - and without danger to the data on the machine - by following the tutorial found here: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pu...
If you have any problems, feel free to post back to the forum.
Take care,
Ric

Once reboot the computer with CD/DVD/USB, remove the lost or forgotten password and then log in to your computer without any password.
