Sounds like an error in windows like corrupted bootup file. If you have the Windows XP disk boot it up from cd then when the menu on cd loads press r then once a black screen apears that looks similar to Command Prompt but is actually named Recovery Console, Type chkdsk /r then press enter. Wait for this to complete should take anywere between 30 mins - 3 hours depends on hard drive size. This should fix all corrupted files on hard drive.
:) Enjoy

There is an easy way to handle your problem; maybe you can try the software "tuneup360". My friends and I all use it, which can help you fix all the problems you may encounter.
