I am working on Illustrator CS2 I need to know how to create a curve.

I WOULD LIKE TO CREATE A CURVE SO THAT I CAN TYPE ON IT AS A PATH. SORT OF LIKE A "BANNER/RIBBON SHAPE".

IF THERE IS ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP ME , PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
